Inside envelope a tiny card printed: 'With All Good Wishes for Christmas and The New Year and inscribed: 'Dear Pat. Alfred likes to quote to me "a woman is as old as her hat" which he attributes to Bob. This may amuse you - turn to page 207 - the last hat Mr Thaarup made for me was so girlish I felt I couldn't wear it! And love to you all - Dorothy [Stirling, sister of Alfred Stirling].
