Details

Laurence John Hartnett was a businessman. Hartnett worked for general Motors in Britain before becoming managing director of General Motors-Holden Ltd in Australia from 1934 to 1946. Hartnett's business interests also included aluminium and aircraft production. Following the outbreak of World War II, he was appointed director (1940-45) of ordnance production, Department of Munitions, and chairman (1942-46) of the Army Inventions Directorate.
