Details
Charles Lloyd Jones was a merchant and patron of the arts. He attended the Julian Ashton art school and the Slade School of Fine Art in London. He joined the David Jones clothing factory in 1902 and became advertising manager in 1905. Jones was appointed a director when David Jones Ltd became a public company in 1906. He served as chairman from 1920 to 1958. Jones was a member of the society of Artists and a trustee of the National Art Gallery of New South Wales (1934-58). He was a close friend of Robert Menzies.
